Stewardship - Building Enthusiasm and Ownership....
I’ve been involved in conducting church stewardship programmes for some forty years working in every State of Australia and in New Zealand.
The work of a good stewardship consultant is essentially about helping you to help yourself in developing a programme that includes as many people from your church as possible in the process building enthusiasm and ownership and giving life and momentum to the vision and goals of the church.
In choosing to engage in a professional programme it is important that there is trust built between your consultant and your leaders. Is this someone who understands the “culture” of the church? Does this person understand the character, theology and values of the church? Does their background lend to understanding church issues or is it “strictly business”?
Planned Giving Counsellors has a focus on one programme at a time recognizing that the consultant needs to be free to give his/her un-divided attention to your church.
Smaller churches often think that they aren’t big enough to warrant an outside organisation helping to conduct their programme. In fact, many times smaller churches need help more than larger churches that have the staff and experience to consider doing it on their own.
In answering the question “When is the right time for a Planned Growth Mission?” The rule of thumb is as soon as possible. The sooner increased giving is in place the sooner the parish can implement its plans for the future.
